Ex-Indian cricket captain's son dies
Ayazuddin, the son of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin, has died five days after being seriously injured in a traffic accident.
Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad confirmed the news of his death on Friday, the Times of India said.
In a medical bulletin issued by the hospital on Thursday, chief executive officer of the Apollo Hospitals (Central Region) Dr K Hari Prasad said, "Brain function tests conducted on Ayazuddin (in the past few days) indicate brain dysfunction. And his status remains critical."
The 19-year old was severely injured when his high-end sports bike, a gift from his father on the occasion of Eid, skidded off the road at Puppalguda on Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad on Sep 11. His cousin Ajmal-ur-Rahman, 16, who was accompanying Ayazuddin on the bike, died soon after being taken to the hospital.
Ayazuddin, a budding cricketer, had played in the under-13, 15 and 17 tournaments.
